Best Canadian Mobile Phone Carriers Company

First of all, before i proceed, my explanation will be based on Alberta province since this is where i belong so my explanation will be from my experience and knowledge. I'm actually currently working at "The Mobile Shop" company which you can find anywhere inside the Real Canadian Superstore. So for kabayans out there looking for the answer to get the best deal, Just go to The Mobile Shop!. We are holding 7 carriers which are Telus, Bell, Rogers, Koodo!, Virgin, Fido, and PC Mobile. Before going to our store, i will help you understand first everything you need to know for you to get the best deal / plan ever! And don't forget to tell them that you were referred by me so you can get the best deal! hehehe. Just tell them that you were referred by Kevin(that's me!) from Grande Prairie Mobile Shop :)

Lets start from introducing each carriers.

Telus / Bell / Rogers - They are the big 3 in Canada. Just like in our country it is Globe / Smart / Sun

Koodo / Virgin / Fido - They are the the subsidiary of the big 3 in Canada. Just like TM / TNT

PC Mobile - Its a store brand of President's Choice and Prepaid users runs under Bell network and Postpaid users runs under Telus network.

Things to remember:

*Telus and Bell are shared tower network.
*Koodo is under the Telus company
*Virgin is under the Bell Company
*Fido is under the Rogers Company
*All carriers have almost the same plan prices.

*So if you are current user of Telus, Bell, Koodo, and Virgin then you have almost the similar signal service.

What carrier is the best in Canada?

Well it actually depends on you location. But here in Grande Prairie which is Alberta Province we usually offer Telus, Bell, Koodo, and Virgin. With the knowledge i have right now is that Rogers / Fido are best on Eastern side of Canada but here in Grande Prairie, Alberta which i'm living right now i heard a lot of complaints that some are not getting signal specially inside buildings. But for the carriers its fine. That's why in our store, we usually don't recommend it even though they already extend their coverage by letting the customer to use Bell and Telus network via roaming which is free of charge. But the downside is there's a limit! Once you exceed the limit for roaming, they will start charging you and so i don't want for us to get extra charges for things we don't know so better be safe than sorry. But if you are on Eastern side of Canada then i think you will be fine but i can not assure you because i'm living here in Alberta so i don't have any experience there.

What is the cheapest phone and plan i can get in Canada?
How phone contracts works in Canada?
Looking for a cheapest plan?

Yes there is!

$27/Month (Koodo/Virgin/Fido) - You can get it by using your own phone for a Month to Month Service. No Contract! Just make sure you phone is openline / unlock to a specific carrier if you are planning to use it to a different carrier. For example if your phone is from Telus, you can use it to Koodo most of the time and vice versa. The same thing with Rogers/Fido and Bell/Virgin. But if you are planning to use your Rogers/Fido phone to Telus/Koodo, make sure your phone is openline/unlock.

$30/Month - If you want a cheapest phone like Samsung Core LTE and Motorola G which is good enough for basic usage. It's going to be on a 2 Year Contract but don't worry about the word "Contract" because The CRTC’s Wireless Code comes into effect on December 2, 2013. In short explanation, There's no Cancellation fee anymore and you can cancel anytime. The only thing you have to pay is the remaining device balance which is the discounted price you got from the phone from the time you signed a contract. To explain it better i attached the explanation from CRTC

The Code limits early
cancellation fees as follows:

a) the fee cannot be greater than the amount of your device subsidy;

b) the fee must reduce each month and reach $0 by the end of your contract.

If you want to cancel before the end of your term, the fee will be based on the time remaining on your contract.

For example, if you signed a 2-year contract, received a $300 rebate on your smartphone, and have 12 months remaining on your contract, your cancellation fee cannot exceed: $300 x 12/24 = $150

Your contract should explain how to calculate this amount. If you don’t know the exact fee you would pay to cancel today, contact your service provider.
